Passion Flower ‘McCain’ (Passiflora edulis) |
Passion Flower ‘McCain’ (Passiflora edulis)
A superb fruiting variety that self-pollinates and produces large oval fruit of excellent sweetness and flavor. The 2" blooms are exquisitely defined with a dark purple band against a background of white. Blooming freely, it goes uninterrupted from early spring through fall.
Hardy to Zone 10 and higher for outdoors.
Full sun, grows to 2-3’ in container, vining in habit, minimum temperature 50°, blooms in spring and summer.
We are sorry, due to agricultural regulations, Passiflora cannot be shipped to Hawaii.

Temperamental versus other passion flowers |
| This is a slower growing Passiflora. I bought two, one online and one in store. This species seems to be pretty temperamental compared to other passionflowers. It has a small root structure and will react poorly if over watered. If you’re growing it in a pot I only recommend clay to allow aeration of the soil. That said with great care it will fruit nicely. Also on a side note from other buyers, cats seems to like to eat this plant so keep it out of reach. |
