Sea Berry ‘Leikora’ (Hippophae rhamnoides) |
Additional ‘Leikora’ (female)
Prized for its juice, “Sea Berry” is very high in vitamins C, A and E (with 7 times more vitamin C than lemons!) The ornamental and edible fruiting shrubs are hardy in zones 3-9 and provide a good food source and cover for birds and other wildlife. Grow in full-to-partial sun and well-drained soil. “Sea Berry” plants fix nitrogen in the soil so they improve surrounding soils. The plants are dioecious with separate male and female plants. We are selling a set of one male pollinator plant and one ‘Leikora’ female plant that bears an abundant crop of bright orange berries in September. Male plants can pollinate up to eight female plants, and “Sea Berry” usually starts bearing fruit 2 to 3 years after planting. To extract the juice, put the berries through a juicer or “Squeezo” and sweeten to taste. Mix the juice concentrate with water for a vitamin-rich drink.
Note: This item is just the female. If you would like a male and female, you will have to purchase the set: Note: here
