Tea (Camellia sinensis)
It’s tea time! Harvest your own tea leaves from the young shoots of this famous plant. Or admire the dark green shiny leaves and dense bushy form while waiting for the small white flowers to arrive in winter. C. sinensis is hardy in the southern United States, but is perfect as a potted plant when grown in a cool spot indoors during the winter.
Hardy to Zone 8 and higher for outdoors.
Full or partial sun, grows to 2-4' in container, minimum temperature indoors 35°, blooms in winter and spring. Once it buds, it requires cool winter night temperatures, below 55°, to bloom.
