Terrestrial Orchid Kryptonite ‘Red Streak’ (Phaiocalanthe hybrid)
A compact terrestrial orchid with multiple flower spikes, 'Red Streak' has many great features. The watermelon-pink blossoms are highlighted with dark red streaks and a velvety red lip. The flowers are held high above the foliage on tall spikes. Blooming in spring, each spike can have up to 15 flowers that last for 2 months. The long ribbed leaves are semi-deciduous with new leaves emerging as the old ones are passing. Grow in low light in moist sphagnum moss. Frequent fertilization helps maintain good growth and flowering. Blooming season is January through May.
Hardy to Zone 10 and higher for outdoors.
Partial sun, grows to 2-3' in container, minimum temperature indoors 60°, intermittent blooms in winter and spring.
