Variegated Chinese Violet (Asystasia gangetica ‘St John’)
This native to tropical Asia is a great subject for a holiday container since it blooms during the short days of winter. The light pink-lavender flowers appear along the upright stems and it flowers continuously for months. This fast-growing plant has attractive variegated foliage that’s dappled green and white. Its primary flowering cycle is during the depth of winter although it can bloom on and off throughout the year, primarily in fall or spring. Give it a bright spot and natural day length for optimum flowering. Any pruning should be done during the summer so as to not disrupt the flowering cycle. Basket not included.
Hardy to Zone 10 and higher for outdoors.
Partial sun to shade, grows 1-1.5' in container, minimum temperature indoors 40°, blooms in Fall, Winter and Spring
