White Champaca (Michelia alba) |
White Champaca (Michelia alba)
Prized throughout the tropics for its highly fragrant white flowers, this member of the magnolia family does surprisingly well as a potted specimen. It flowers at an early age often 2'-3' in height and blooms almost continuously throughout the year. Its size and form are easy to maintain and even when pruned it still flowers reliably. The flowers only last 1-2 days but the plant blooms continuously with the aromatic sweet fragrance filling the air. Grow in full sun and keep warm for the greatest number of flowers. It can tolerate cool nights and partial sun as well.
Hardy to Zone 10 and higher for outdoors.
Full to partial sun, grows to 4-8' in container, minimum temperature indoors 40°, intermittent bloomer.
Fragrant!
