Anthurium ‘Ace of Spades’ (Anthurium species)
Rare and hard to find, Anthurium ‘Ace of Spades’ came from the collection of Orchid Jungle in Homestead, Florida. It was one of the few surviving plants that came through the devastation of Hurricane Andrew. ‘Ace of Spades’ was originally collected in the tropical rainforests of South America. It has large dark green to nearly black velvety leaves that are burgundy red when they first open. As the leaves mature, they become darker and more velvety. The flower is the same color as the foliage. Leaves can measure up to 3’ long and 2’ wide when fully mature. Grow in warm temperatures (60-85°F), high humidity, indirect light and provide steady moisture. Fertilize at least once monthly with a balanced fertilizer including micronutrients.
