Brazilian Red Cloak (Megaskepasma erythrochlamys)
A spectacular tropical shrub for containers that brings brilliant color to the winter garden and has the ability to flower under both full to partial sun exposures. The flowers, which are white and somewhat small, are cloaked in tall spikes of bright red bracts. This floral show goes on for weeks at a time. For summer blooms, make sure your plants reach two feet tall or more without any pruning. They are fast growers and need plenty of fertilizer and attention to watering. Although they can flower at other times of the year, our Brazilian Red Cloaks bloom mostly in late fall and winter. Once a flowering cycle is complete, then they can be pruned to maintain size after which time they should be left to grow until flowers form again.
