Cold Weather Shipping

When the winter begins Logee's starts using USPS Priority Mail for all standard shipping because the priority mail travels mostly by air and the post office never leaves its packages in trucks outside overnight.  Between careful monitoring of the weather (see our map and details below) and the priority mail service we have had very good success.  However, sometime packages do freeze ... please contact us immediately if you have a problem.  When the day-time temperature falls close to freezing (either in Connecticut or your state) we can no longer ship safely using priority mail.  At that point, you may choose our insulated express shipping (see below) or wait until the weather warms enough to safely ship.

Insulated Express Shipping
When the day-time temperatures fall to freezing or below (either in Connecticut or your state) the only way to safely ship plants is to use insulated express shipping.  We offer both FedEx 2-Day and Overnight options.  In either case, your plants are packed in an insulated box with a heat pack at no additional charge.  Our current testing shows that this method should protect packages in weather down to about 18° F for a daytime high and about 15° F for a night-time low (a little lower if you choose 1-day shipping).  If your local temperatures are lower we will hold the order until it is safe to ship or you can contact us - the insulated shipping may still be available as long as you use overnight shipping and will be home to receive the package.  Note: Our insulated shipping method is only available with overnight or two day shipping because the heat packs do not last long enough to use in standard shipping.

The map below shows how Logee's divides the country into zones by weather patterns.
