Fiery Spike (Aphelandra aurantiaca)
A great plant for lower light or shady areas, the brilliant orange-red blooms dazzle the eye and bring a splash of color to winter. This reliable bloomer is one of the easiest in the genus to grow. Always staying under a foot in height, “Fiery Spike” is resistant to browning leaf edges unlike many in the genus. Even when out of flower, the silvery-veined foliage of this Central American native makes an attractive year-round container plant.
