Light:
Full sun, a
southern exposure, is best however; they will grow in an eastern or
western exposure.
Temperature:
Maintain temperatures above 35°.
Humidity:
Preferably 50% or
higher; however, they will tolerate low levels with no harm.
Watering:
Bring soil to a state of visual dryness between
watering. When watering, thoroughly saturate the soil until a little
water trickles out of the bottom of the pot. Growing in a clay pot
will help maintain a healthy root system. A slight wilt will do no
harm but try not to put plants into a severe wilt.
Fertilizer:
They are moderate feeders so ¼ tsp of fertilizer
per gallon of water once a week. Under the fast growth of summer, use
½ tsp of fertilizer per gallon of water once a week. Use a balanced
fertilizer such as a 15-15-15 or a blooming fertilizer like 7-9-5.
Reduce feeding during the winter.
Pruning:
Prune young plants to encourage branching when
young. This will help create a bushy plant that can carry the fruit.
The best time to rune is after flowering and when in active growth.
You’ll know how much fruit is left on the branches and it allows the
plant to get ready for next seasons blooms.

Insects and
Disease:
Kumquats are susceptible to mealy bug and scale
as well as spider mites under dry, hot conditions. Watch carefully for
infestations as well as insects that might be present on adjacent
plants. They also are highly susceptible to root disease especially
during the winter months.

Comments:
Keep the roots healthy by drying out
between waterings and give full light and moderate amounts of fertilizer
for steady growth.
