temperature above 35°F; however, they will tolerate low levels
periodically. Winter hardiness outdoors Zone 8.
Humidity:
Preferably 50% or
higher; however, they will tolerate low levels without harm.
Watering:
Water when the
soil is visually dry, don’t keep it constantly saturated.
Fertilizer:
Go easy on the
fertilizer. Apply monthly during spring to fall during active growth.
Fertilize with ˝ tsp/gallon of a balanced fertilizer (ie: 5-10-3,
7-9-5, 10-10-10). Excessive fertilization can create difficulties in
culture.
Pruning:
Prune
only when needed to maintain size. The best time to prune is after
flowering in late summer.
Insects and
Disease:
Resistant to
most insects; occasional mealy bug problems. Not susceptible to root
disease.
Comments:
Easy-to-grow, tolerant
to drought stress and low humidity. Train on a stake or trellis to make
it into a beautiful specimen.
