Light:

Partial sun or shade (an east, west or north exposure or the interior of a room).

Temperature:

Maintain temperatures above 35 degrees.

Humidity:

Unaffected by wide swings in humidity.

Watering:

Bring soil to visual dryness between waterings.  They will, however, tolerate periods of extended dryness with ease.

Fertilizer:

Fertilize once every two weeks with ½ tsp. of fertilizer per gallon of a water-soluble fertilizer when in active growth. Stop feeding in winter.

Pruning:

Little or no pruning is needed.

Insects and Disease:

They are little affected by insects or diseases. 

Comments:

Aspidistra are indestructible plants often used in the harshest of indoor conditions.  They will tolerate low light levels and long periods of dryness.
