Light:
Full to partial sun - a south, east, or west
window.
Temperature:
Maintain
temperatures above 60 degrees.
Humidity:
Preferably 50% or
higher; however, they will tolerate low
levels without harm.
Watering:
Bring soil to
visual dryness between watering. Thoroughly saturate the potting mix
when watering.
Fertilizer:
Fertilize every
two weeks with ½ tsp./gallon of a soluble fertilizer.
Reduce fertilizer when grown under low light.
Stop fertilizing during the winter.
Repot once plant has completely filled the pot.
Pruning:
As Coffea has an
upright, well-branching habit, generally no pruning is necessary until
height is unmanageable. In
time, you can prune back either the lateral branches or cut back the
upright growth. This can
be done with little effect on the plant’s vigor. Plant can be pruned
to 12” above the soil surface where they resprout and within a
year’s time are back into flowering and fruit.
Insects and
Disease:
They are
susceptible to mealy bugs and scale if they come
in contact with other infected plants.
On occasion, they suffer
with foliage diseases, which are best treated with a systemic copper,
such as Phyton 27.

Coffeas make
excellent indoor plants being tolerant of lower light and low
humidity. They are usually
grown from seed and will take 2-3 years to come into flower and fruit.
Their growth is upright much like a Christmas tree; they need
little in the way of pruning until they are quite old.
