Cultural Information –

Light:
|
Bright light
but not hot direct sunlight. Morning or afternoon sun is okay.
|
|
Temperature:
|
Minimum
nighttime temperatures above 60° F with a 10 degree increase in
temperature during the day is helpful.
|
|
Humidity:
|
Preferably
50% or higher; put orchids on a humidity tray or a tray with pebbles
and mist them daily to help increase humidity.
|
|
Watering:
|
Bring
potting medium to almost dryness in between waterings. Then thoroughly
saturate the moss. Test by touching the medium. Do not let
it become bone dry and do not let them sit in moisture.
|
|
Fertilizer:
|
During
their growing season, periodically fertilize with ˝ tsp/gallon every
four weeks. Do not over fertilize, the roots are sensitive to
too much feed.
|
|
Pruning:
|
Cut
off old flower spikes after flowering is done.
|

Insects and
Disease:
|
Mostly
susceptible to root rot.
|
|
Comments:
|
Repot
with fresh medium when orchids require larger pots. When
repotting clean the healthy roots, remove the dead or damaged roots
and place in a medium of sphagnum moss or orchid mix.
