Joy Perfume Tree (Michelia champaca)
Highly fragrant flowers bloom during the spring to summer months in shades of cream to yellow. These delightful flowers are the floral scent used for “Joy” perfume. A native tree to SE Asia, Michelia champaca is a fast grower that reaches 20’ tall when grown in tropical regions. If you are growing it as a container plant, you’ll need a large pot and regular pruning so it doesn’t outgrow the pot. Michelias are small trees related to Magnolias that produce some of the most fragrant flowers in the world.
