Leucospermum ‘Brandi’ (Leucospermum hybrid)
Introduced by the Agricultural Research Center, University of Hawaii on Maui, Leucospermum ‘Brandi’ has attractive 5-6”, golden-yellow and orange flowers that are held on tall stems. In the Protea family, it’s commonly called Pincushion Flower for its unusual flower shape. This evergreen shrub prefers acidic soils and may benefit from the addition of sulfur. Supplement with a micronutrient fertilizer that includes zinc, magnesium, manganese and copper but provide very little phosphorus for best growth. Flowers last nearly 3 weeks in cut arrangements.
