This select papaya seedling was found in Mexico and it’s ideal for container gardeners because of its natural dwarf growth habit. ‘Emma’s’ fruit is about 6” long and might be elongated or round. It’s the perfect single serving size. The inner fruit is reddish, with few seeds and very sweet and tasty. Even people who don’t like papaya enjoy the taste of this fruit. It flowers in spring with fruit ripening in fall. If you’re a northern grower, it’s best to transplant into a 3-gallon pot once you receive the plant to let it grow to its full potential. In a year or two, it should graduate to a 7-gallon pot. Gardeners in southern zones can plant ‘Emma’ directly in the garden. ‘Emma’ is a prolific fruiter.

Ordered this plant several month's ago. It arrived healthy. It's lost all it's original leaves and spit out a plethora of new ones. The leaves are unique and tropical looking. Very large. A gorgeous plant. (Posted on 7/30/2016)
