Platycerium bifurcatum "Netherlands" (Staghorn Fern in Ponga Pot)
We are very excited to offer this highly desirable Staghorn Fern growing in a Ponga Pot. Staghorn ferns are epiphytes (air plants) and grow best in their native environment on tree trunks and branches. They need bright light and a cycle of saturated and then nearly dry potting media. (They are forgiving if under watered.) This tender tropical fern has an unusual appearance and growth habit with the typical velveteen leaves. We’re offering a 5” staghorn fern planted in a ponga pot. Ponga pots are made from New Zealand tree ferns that have been harvested in a sustainable manner. The tree fern pot transports water to the fern by capillary action so it receives just the right amount of water. Ponga pots should be placed in a saucer and watered from the bottom. May be grown indoors or out, as long as temperatures remain above 55º. Shipped in a 5" tall Ponga Pot.
Hardy to Zone 9 and higher for outdoors.
Partial sun, grows to 1-2' in container, minimum temperature indoors 50°.
