Tropical Pitcher Plant ‘Alata’ (Nepenthes alata)
One of the most popular carnivorous species in cultivation, Tropical Pitcher Plant ‘Alata’ is known for its large, red pitchers that grow off the tips of the leaves and attract insects and people alike. The pitchers are filled with secretions that attract, and will also digest, insects that land on the slippery little covers and fall into the pitchers. Make sure the pitchers always have a little fluid in the bottom. If the plant has been recently moved so the natural secretions drain out, fill each pitcher with about 1” of distilled water. Grow in partial sun to bright shade with good humidity and air ventilation. Pitcher Plants are best grown in a hanging basket for optimal display of the pitchers.

  1. Excellemt plant Review by gail
How do you rate this product?

Received my pitcher plant and it is spectacular! How do I know what I'm talking about? I ordered one from Predatory Plants and it is a joke. It is only about 2 inches high and the little guy actually made one pitcher. In comparison, Logee's sent me about an 8-9 inch plant with 5 nice sized pitchers and is in the process of making at least 4-5 more that I can tell...maybe more ??? I'd return the little 2 incher, but I feel so sorry for him, I'm going to try and reward him for his effort by growing him up to be (hopefully) a big boy :) He'd probably be thrown out if I returned him and he deserves a chance to grow.
