This Central American native has defined texture and form and adds a vibrant flare to any bright window or large terrarium. The heart-shaped leaves have shades of light and dark green tones combined with a chocolate brown that strengthens the color pattern. Long sprays of pink flowers arrive to engulf the plant in late winter or spring. The foliage color is enriched with bright but diffused light levels. Preferring it warm, cooler temperatures in winter will induce dormancy where it can become deciduous. If the leaves drop, simply grow a little dryer and as temperatures and daylight increases it will spring back into growth.
