Star Jasmine ‘Madison’ (Trachelospermum jasminoides hybrid)
‘Madison’ is a new cultivar with
a sweeter fragrance than the standard
Star Jasmine and it has the benefit
of a longer blooming season. The oval,
dark, shiny leaves are thick and leathery yet
the undersides are velvet-like. ‘Madison’
is drought tolerant and is planted in the
southern landscape as a tall ground cover.
The fragrant blooms engulf the bush every
spring. Hardy to Zone 7, ‘Madison’ can take
temperatures into the teens and as a container
plant, it can be used for fragrance in
baskets or trained on a stake or trellis. This
variety is relatively pest-free.
