Cootamundra Wattle (Acacia baileyana)
Bringing a splash of bright yellow to the winter garden, this famous Acacia sports silvery-blue foliage, and although grown as a large landscape tree in southern CA as well as its native land of Australia, it makes a wonderful potted plant for those who have a cool, sunny growing space and 6-8’ of head room. We have grown Cootamundra Wattle for many years in our cool greenhouse where, in February, it springs into bloom with a mass of tiny, yellow, fragrant flowers. Once flowering has finished, we prune it back to maintain size, and it goes outside for the summer once warm weather arrives. Our plants are seed grown and usually flower in 3-4 years.
