Dwarf Chinese Lantern ‘Gnome’ (Physalis alkekengi var. franchetii)
Grown for its decorative, bright orange, lantern-like coverings over its fruits, Dwarf Chinese Lantern is a new shorter variety that only grows about 10” tall and is ideal for containers. It flowers in mid-summer and a papery, orange calyx forms around each ripening fruit. It’s most often grown for dried flower arrangements where it adds color and charm to fall bouquets.
