Dwarf Red Ginger (Alpinia purpurata)
Dwarf Red Ginger
makes an excellent tropical
plant for containers since it
only grows 3’ tall with lush,
lance-shaped foliage and
bright red floral spikes that
measure 6-12” long. From
within the red inflorescence,
small, white, tubular flowers
emerge a few at a time.
Ginger thrives in warm temperatures
and rich soil with
steady water and fertilizer
during the growing season.
The flower spikes can be
used for long-lasting cut
flowers and they hold on the
plant for up to 3 weeks.
