Fig 'Violette de Bordeaux' (Ficus carica)

A dwarf growth habit makes Fig 'Violette de Bordeaux' well adapted for containers. The medium-sized, purplish-black fruit has a sweet, dark red interior and many people consider this variety to be one of the best tasting figs for fresh eating or preserves. 'Violette de Bordeaux' produces an early breba crop followed by a later fruit set in the fall. Because of its small size and hardiness to zone 6, this is an ideal fruit for home gardens.
