Gardenia ‘Diamond’s Fragrant Delight’ (Gardenia taitensis hybrid)
Just when we thought we’d seen everything in the world of gardenias, our friend Mike Diamond gave us this unusual cultivar. The foliage and growth habit are robust and the flowers are huge, often 5” across. At the center of each bloom is a small tuft of petals. Holding true to gardenia fragrance, Diamonds’ Fragrant Delight is intoxicating and heady, just like its namesake. Blooms appear throughout the growing season from late winter until fall. Plants have good resistance to root diseases that often plague gardenias in container culture.
