WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Logee's Historic Greenhouses and Plant Store is New England's favorite destination to experience the world of plants! Inside our greenhouses you'll enter a lush plant paradise where you can both shop and explore. Discover new varieties or find old favorites as you browse through our extensive inventory of over 500 types of fruiting, rare and tropical plants. View our vast collection of unusual and rare botanical specimens up close, and breathe in the divine fragrance of our many tropical flowers. Logee's is open year-round, and since something new is always blooming, it's always a great time to visit!
  • In 1892, Logee's was established by William D. Logee; he started it all with one greenhouse and a small collection of plants. Today, Logee's third-generation, family-owned plant nursery has 6 spectacular tropical greenhouses that are open to the public year-round:
  • Big House is a picturesque conservatory with winding stone pathways that's home to Succulents, Perennials, and many mature Plant Specimens. Here you can see our 150-year-old Orange Tree that has 10 different Citrus Grafts.
  • Fern House (Logee's very first, original greenhouse) still stands and now contains a veritable jungle of exotic Tropical Plants, including the rare Jade Vine and Corpse Flower.
  • Long House contains an abundance of Tropical Flowering & Fruiting Plants as well as Hibiscus and Logee's famous Begonia hybrids.
  • Lemon Tree House has a variety of Citrus Trees, Orchids and our old Ponderosa Lemon Tree that has been growing in this location since 1900- its lemons weigh up to 5 pounds each!
  • Potting House boasts stunning Passion Flowers, Gesneriads and Tropical Spice Plants.
  • Herb House is home to an incredible range of special Culinary and Medicinal Plants.

PHOTO & VIDEO POLICY

Portrait Photoshoots: We welcome all people to come and visit Logee's and take photos to share on social media, with friends, or simply for your own personal use. However, when simple photos turn into photo shoots, it presents a logistical problem for us.  Our aisles are narrow, the number of people who visit us is large, and we are a working greenhouse with watering and pruning of plants taking place on a daily basis. More than 2 people with any of the following is considered a photo shoot: a camera person, lighting equipment, professional camera equipment, props, etc. We do our best to accommodate photoshoot requests when possible and ask you to follow these guidelines:

Photoshoots must be requested at least three (3) weeks ahead of time. Please email us at [email protected] with your request and details. Submitting a photoshoot request does not guarantee that we will be able to accommodate your request. Requests will be considered on an individual basis and we'll get back to you within a few days. When contacting us to request a photoshoot, please include the following:
1. Please describe the nature of your photoshoot. How many people will be in your group?
2. Please let us know if you would like to bring any special props or equipment. The use of props or large equipment must be approved of ahead of time.
3. Please let us know the best date(s) and time(s) that work for you. (See scheduling note below.)

Scheduling Photoshoots: We are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays for pruning and restocking so those days are not available for photoshoots. We are also unable to accommodate photoshoots on weekends during our busy season (March - August). We may decline photoshoot requests if we are having special events or due to other circumstances. The best times and days for us with the highest likelihood of availability are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings. Please note: First thing in the morning, the lighting is often better inside the greenhouses for photography than it would be later in the day, and it is also less likely to be busy in terms of customers shopping. We open at 9am, so if you are able to begin your shoot at 8am, you would not have to worry about any other customers for the first hour.

Cost: The cost to reserve a time for a portrait photoshoot is $90.00 plus tax for a 90 minute block, with up to 6 people allowed. After receiving approval for your photoshoot, payment must be made in full at least 2 weeks prior to the photoshoot, either over the phone (860) 774-8038 or in our Retail Store. If the photoshoot is cancelled for any reason before the scheduled time, half of the fee ($45) may be refunded back to you.

General guidelines for photoshoots:
1. We cannot exclusively reserve or block off any parts of the greenhouses, so if a portion or all of the shoot takes place during our regular business hours (we open at 9am), you should expect to be aware of potential customers and work around them. However, once your timeslot has been reserved, we would not book any other photoshoots during that same time.
2. Moving plants is not allowed.
3. Photographers and subjects must stay on the paths. Standing in the planting areas or climbing trees is prohibited.
4. The use of props or large equipment must be approved of ahead of time.
5. All photo subjects must be appropriately clothed.
6. Photographers will be held accountable for their actions and those of their clients. Photographers will be responsible for any damage to Logee's plants and/or property. Depending on the nature of your photoshoot, we may require you to have photographers insurance.
7. More than 2 people with any of the following is considered a photo shoot: a camera person, lighting equipment, professional camera equipment, props, etc. Anyone just showing up to take photos, blocking off areas and obstructing the flow of guests, will be asked to leave.
8. Logee's prohibits taking photos and videos for advertising or any other commercial purpose.

PLEASE CHECK BACK WITH US IN AUGUST. THANK YOU AND SORRY FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE.  3/5/2024 ***
  • Tour requests must be submitted at least 3 weeks in advance. Submitting a request does not guarantee a reservation. A member of Logee's staff will contact you to discuss scheduling.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT?

  • We are OPEN YEAR-ROUND, and since something new is always blooming, it's always a great time to visit! We recommend visiting multiple times throughout the year so you can experience what each season has to offer.
  • In spring, our greenhouses are filled with abundant blooms and fragrance as we experience a burst of growth!
  • In summer, many tropical plants are in their prime and the greenhouses are lush and full.
  • In fall, the shortening daylength causes many fall-blooming plants to begin to flower.
  • In winter, there are plenty of beautiful flowers and a trip to Logee's is like a mini tropical vacation! Our famous Ponderosa Lemons are often ripening during the winter Holiday season.
