Cocoa (Theobroma cacao 'Trinitario')
Chocolate’s delicious taste is enjoyed by young and old alike. You can have fun growing your own cocoa beans from our yellow-podded cacao tree. Our seedling plants will start bearing fruit at 3-4 years old once they have reached 5-6’ tall. The pink and white flowers grow straight out of the tree trunk and main branches, followed by the cocoa pods. It takes 5 months for the fruit to develop. The cylindrical cocoa pods change from green to yellow when fully ripe. Each pod contains 20-40 seeds. The cocoa beans must ferment for about one week and then are dried to create the unique chocolate flavor. Cocoa plants prefer some shade, especially when the trees are young. The plant may experience edge burn during the winter months. The botanical name Theobroma cacao literally means “Food of the Gods."

  1. Amazing! Review by Aaron
How do you rate this product?

I've had a cocoa plant before and it was nothing compared to this one. It arrived larger than expected in great condition. In about 2 months the plant is now producing leaves bigger than my hand and shows no signs of stopping with a few more smaller ones already showing. I will order another one if I could only get more room. (Posted on 7/9/2016)

  2. Arrived in great shape, rather big in size no complaints, very healthy Review by Gaffer
How do you rate this product?

Arrived in great shape, left it on my porch for a few days to adjust to the light. Then transplanted it to a clay pot and put it in my greenhouse. It's doing great and can't wait to harvest some coco beans. (Posted on 5/4/2016)

  3. Very good buy!! Plant arrived packaged quite well, no physical damage from shipping and was quite a bit bigger than I was expecting! Review by Marcus
How do you rate this product?

This is truly a marvelous plant! I was dubious at first of this company, but I'm completely satisfied with my purchase! They arrived in great condition, shipping was spot on, they included some good informative directions and even a coupon! Sadly I won't be able to use the coupon since I don't order many plants online. I am VERY excited to grow this beauty and get some flowers in a few years! I will definitely recommend this to anyone I see that asks me about theobroma cacao! (Posted on 3/3/2016)
