Genista canariensis “Canary Island
Broom”
The winter days are awakened
by the sweet fragrance of this subtropical
broom. Long spires of bright yellow flowers emerge from January to April and fill the air with a delicate fragrance. Grow in a cool, sunny area with a night temperature below 60° F to induce flowering. It will continue to flower
as long as the nights are cool. “Canary Island Broom” is an excellent plant to train as a
topiary or standard.
Hardy to Zone 10 and higher for outdoors.
Full sun, grows to 2-3' in container, minimum temperature 35°, requires cool night temperatures below 60° blooms in winter and spring.
