when it’s planting time in your zone. Otherwise, Hardy
Perennials can be kept in a cool or cold spot like an unheated
garage, cool cellar or outbuilding. Cover the pot and soil
with insulating material (burlap, clean rags, newspaper) and
check the soil every 2-3 weeks to make sure it doesn’t dry
out completely. In the spring, plant as soon as the ground
is open and no longer frozen. Dormant plants can endure
freezing temperatures in the spring as long as the plant
remains dormant without any green buds.
Night Blooming Cereus (Epiphyllum oxypetalum)
We’ve created quite a stir in the community with this magical Epiphyllum. Pure white flowers, the size of a dinner plate, open as soon as the sun goes down and stay open all night, closing in the morning. We invited a few friends to the greenhouse one evening to take in this wondrous sight and breathe in the heady, intoxicating fragrance. It blooms in waves during the summer months, with sometimes as many as 15 flowers at once. Our friends were overwhelmed with nature’s ability to manifest such a magnificent creation. Word spread quickly. A member of the Orchid Cactus family, its flowers emerge from the leaf-like structure.
Hardy to Zone 10 and higher for outdoors.
Partial sun, grows to 6’ in container, vining in habit, minimum temperature 35°, blooms in summer.
We have several of these in our yard in whiskey barrels! Weve counted over 100 flowers open in one night on a single plant! The fragrance is out of this world!

A really INTOXICATING FRAGANCE
My mother bought an apartment few years ago, which included this GORGEOUS, INTOXICATING FRAGANCE flowers. Now I just learned the name of it. Im crazy with the flowers and late at night I spent it taking a lot of pictures. Right now they will come out nine in one plant and three on another. It blooms for about two hours, but really enjoy, mine is white, see a few more colors... Really BEAUTIFUL. ENJOY
