Banana ‘Dwarf Lady Finger’ (Musa acuminata)
Yes, you can grow and harvest edible bananas in a pot. This new banana grows up to be 5' high which is about as good as it gets in the world of dwarf bananas. We were surprised at how early this cultivar came into fruit, outpacing any of the other container-sized bananas we've grown. The trunk and leaves are modest in size, making it manageable for indoor and patio culture. The fruiting flower stem displays itself beautifully, arching and pendulating from the plant's crown. The 4-5" fruit is sweet and delicious. Give this one plenty of warmth, sun, water and fertilizer and in no time you'll be harvesting a bountiful crop.
Hardiness Zone 10
Bloom Season Intermittent
Sun Requirement Full Sun, Partial Sun

  1. Very happy. Review by David

I ordered this plant just after Thanksgiving, It arrived a day before expected. It looked just like the picture on Logee;s site.
It had a new leaf started when it arrived and now the leaf is about half way open. Just moved it into a 6" pot. Roots looked very healthy.Have kept it inside because the weather has been cold ( for California ) and cloudy. Seems to be healthy. Have only had it about 3 weeks but looking forward to the next month or two to watch it grow. I can see the changes each day. (Posted on 12/22/2015)

I purchased this banana plant about 4 months ago. It has already at least doubled in size. I am in Zone 6. I had it in a window with a southern exposure. Two weeks ago, I moved it outside. It continues to grow new leaves rapidly! I can't wait for my first bananas! (Posted on 7/8/2015)

  3. Wow! Review by Janet
How do you rate this product?

I bought a Dwarf Lady Finger banana tree from Logee's about 2 years ago. I live in Zone 6 (close to 7). I moved the tree into progressively larger pots as it grew. It spends the months of October thru April in my house near some big windows with a southern exposure. The rest of the year it is outside. It's a huge job to move this plant because it is at least 6 feet wide, and the pot filled with soil is heavy! I damaged several leaves when I moved the plant out this spring, and was thinking about how sad the tree looks, then, just this morning I happened to notice that there were tiny bananas on the tree! I am so excited! (Posted on 6/10/2015)
