Citrus ‘Miho Wase’ Satsuma Mandarin (Citrus unshiu)
Satsuma mandarins are among the most cold hardy citrus being able to withstand temperatures into low 20’s and even into the teens for mature plants. ‘Miho’ was selected as a “Texas Superstar” because of its excellent fruit quality and cold hardiness. The compact tree only reaches 10’ tall in outdoor gardens and because of its dwarf growth habit, it makes an ideal container plant for northern growers. The fruit begins to color in late summer and early fall and it’s ready for harvest by Thanksgiving. The 3” fruit is sweet and juicy with a thin, easy-to-peel skin. These tasty fruits are some of our favorites. This is a grafted plant that blooms and fruits sooner.
