Pygmy Date Palm (Phoenix roebelenii)
Often grown in a large container for an interior planting or as a landscape plant in southern zones, Pygmy Date Palm is an attractive specimen that reaches 6-9’ tall at full maturity. As a young plant, the Pygmy Date Palm has a grass-like appearance but it soon becomes a small, slow-growing slender palm tree with palm frond branches. Long inflorescences of small, yellow flowers appear on both the male and female plants. Grow in well drained soil in full sun.
