Cardinal Flower (Sinningia cardinalis)
Perfect for a partially sunny windowsill or light garden, Cardinal Flower is a compact, blooming plant that’s ideal for the potted garden. It stays under a foot in height and blooms on and off from spring to fall. During the winter months, under cool temperatures and low light, it can go into a “rest period” when the foliage dies back or goes dormant. In late winter or early spring, broad fuzzy leaves reappear from the root tubers and create a pretty rosette from which brilliant scarlet-red, tubular flowers arise.

Bright spot of my Winter Review by Kelly
How do you rate this product? Colorful, large red flowers are attention-grabbing and unexpected in such dreary, January days. Easy growing, compact plant with velvety soft leaves. A wonderful plant to grow with limited space, and seems happy under less than ideal winter sun and indoor dry-heat conditions. Now in early April, I am seeing new growth at the base of my plant, excited to see it thrive when warmer days arrive. I would recommend this unique little plant to anyone who needs a winter boost.
