About Us

General Info

Logee's Historic Greenhouses and Plant Store is New England's favorite destination to experience the world of plants! Inside our greenhouses you'll enter a lush plant paradise where you can both shop and explore. Discover new varieties or find old favorites as you browse through our extensive inventory of over 500 types of fruiting, rare, and tropical plants. View our vast collection of unusual and rare botanical specimens up close, and breathe in the divine fragrance of our many tropical flowers. We also have the oldest indoor Ponderosa Lemon Treein the USA, which has been growing in the ground since the year 1900! Logee's is open year-round, and since something new is always blooming, it's always a great time to visit!

In 1892, Logee's was established by William D. Logee; he started it all with one greenhouse and a small collection of plants. Today, Logee’s fourth-generation, family-owned plant nursery has 6 spectacular tropical greenhouses that are open to the public year-round:

  • Big House is a picturesque conservatory with winding stone pathways that's home to Succulents, Perennials, and many mature Plant Specimens. Here you can see our 150-year-old Orange Tree that has 10 different Citrus Grafts.
  • Fern House (Logee's very first, original greenhouse) still stands and now contains a veritable jungle of exotic Tropical Plants, including the rare Jade Vine and Corpse Flower.
  • Long House contains an abundance of Tropical Flowering & Fruiting Plants as well as Hibiscus and Logee’s famous Begonia Hybrids.
  • Lemon Tree House has a variety of Citrus Trees, Orchids and our famous old Ponderosa Lemon Tree that has been growing in this location since 1900- its lemons weigh up to 5 pounds each!
  • Potting House boasts stunning Passion Flowers, Gesneriads and Tropical Spice Plants.
  • Herb House is home to an incredible range of special Culinary and Medicinal Plants.

Logee's Online Store offers over 500 types of fruiting, rare and tropical plants for sale online at logees.com, and ships to all 50 states.

If I purchase a plant at Logee's Retail Store, can I pot it up in the store?

Yes! We have a potting station in our Retail Store by the checkout area. If you buy a plant and a pot from us, we provide free soil for you to pot up your new plant in the Retail Store.

Can I bring in my own plant from home and have Logee's repot it for me?

Unfortunately, this is not a service that we offer. With our many rare and tropical mother plants, bringing plants from home can increase our Mother plants' risk of exposure to pests or diseases.

What does the "-4G" mean on my plant's tag?

All of our plants have item numbers, or SKUs. For example, the SKU for Australian Finger Lime is C2052-4G. At the end of a plant's SKU, the -4 refers to the pot size: the diameter of the pot measured in inches. Plant SKUs that end in -4 are in a 4” pot. Plant SKUs that end in -6 are in a 6” pot. Plant SKUs that end in the letter G indicate that the plant has been grafted onto a root stock as a method of propagation.

Can I bring my pet into the greenhouses?

No, pets are not allowed in the greenhouses. Service animals are welcome.

Ordering

Can I order my plant online or by phone and pick it up in store?

No. Unfortunately, we do not offer the option to pay online or by phone and pick up in-store. All items are sold on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be held in-store. Please come into our retail store to pick out items in our greenhouses. If you need assistance finding something, one of our knowledgeable staff would be happy to help you.

What will I receive?

We offer 2.5” and 4” potted plants. Please see our What You Will Receive page for pictures and details.

Where do I enter my keycode?

After you add the first item to your shopping cart and are on your shopping cart page, enter your key code and click on "Apply Key Code".

Does Logee's offer wholesale pricing?

Unfortunately Logee's is currently unable to offer discounted wholesale pricing.

Can I combine sales, discount codes or promotions on my order?

No, only one discount code or sale promotion may be applied to a single order. Separate promotions or offers cannot be combined or applied retroactively to orders already placed.

Do I need to pay sales tax with my order?

Many states have begun to require online retailers to collect Sales Tax.
Click here to see a list of Sales Tax rates currently required by each state.

  • FedEx/UPS 1-Day - Orders received by 12 Midnight (Monday - Wednesday) will be shipped the following day. Orders received after 12 Midnight on Wednesday will be shipped the following week. We cannot offer overnight delivery for Alaska and Hawaii. 1-Day orders are not shipped on Friday to avoid having the plants sit somewhere over the weekend.
  • FedEx/UPS 2-Day - Orders must be placed by midnight Tuesday for same week delivery. 2-Day orders are shipped Monday through Wednesday.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Some items (those which start with a "DS" or "KS") are not shipped via Express shipping, these items will ship via standard shipping (you will not be charged any additional express shipping fees for this item).
  • Any back-ordered items will be shipped using standard shipping when ready.
  • Express charges are calculated based on the weight of the order and the location being delivered to; our website will indicate the shipping charges for each shipping option.
Does Logee's ship all year?

Yes, weather-permitting. Logee's closely tracks the weather and ships only when there is a long enough period of time with mild enough weather. Although temperatures in your region may be warm enough to receive plants, local temperatures may not allow us to successfully ship orders containing live plants each day. In the event temperatures do not allow us to ship your order by standard shipping you can choose our insulated express shipping (see "How Does Logee's Ship in Winter Weather?").

How does Logee's ship plants in winter weather?
  • When the winter begins Logee's starts using USPS Priority Mail for all standard shipping because the priority mail travels mostly by air and the post office never leaves its packages in trucks outside overnight.  Between careful monitoring of the weather (see our map and details below) and the priority mail service we have had very good success.  However, sometime packages do freeze ... please contact us immediately if you have a problem.  When the day-time temperature falls close to freezing (either in Connecticut or your state) we can no longer ship safely using priority mail.  At that point, you may choose our insulated express shipping (see below) or wait until the weather warms enough to safely ship.

  • Insulated Express Shipping
When the day-time temperatures fall to freezing or below (either in Connecticut or your state) the only way to safely ship plants is to use insulated express shipping.  We offer both FedEx 2-Day and Overnight options.  In either case, your plants are packed in an insulated box with a heat pack at no additional charge.  Our current testing shows that this method should protect packages in weather down to about 18° F for a daytime high and about 15° F for a night-time low (a little lower if you choose 1-day shipping).  If your local temperatures are lower we will hold the order until it is safe to ship or you can contact us- the insulated shipping may still be available as long as you use overnight shipping and will be home to receive the package. Note: Our insulated shipping method is only available with overnight or two day shipping because the heat packs do not last long enough to use in standard shipping.
Can I place a hold on my order / delay the delivery of my order?

Yes, at checkout, please select an Order Hold Date and we will ship your order at whatever future date you specify that is your ideal planting time. (Due to space constraints at our facility, we can hold orders for a maximum of 2 months.) The plants will be reserved for you and cared for in our greenhouses until your specified ship date. Please note: Your credit card will be charged when your order is placed (this immediately reserves your plants from our limited and perishable inventory.) To place a hold order, either enter the date on the checkout page (under "Order Hold Date") or mention it to the customer service representative when you call.

Guarantee

Logee's 60 Day Guarantee

OUR MISSION & GUARANTEE

Logee’s brings a diversity of people and plants together to experience the joy of gardening. We want our customers to be satisfied with their purchases, and to be successful growing fruiting, rare and tropical plants. We guarantee our plants will arrive in good condition, and be true to variety name.

SHIPPING

  • We pack and ship your plants with care, however, the time in transit may cause normal shipping stress. Some symptoms of shipping stress include yellowing, wilting or loss of leaves, loss of fruit or flowers, and minor damage to branches. During the shipping process a leaf may break, or other minor damage may occur. This is not cause for alarm because a well-rooted plant will recover quickly.
  • If your plant arrives dead or with severe shipping damage, please notify us within 48 hours and send a photo to info@logees.com. Claims for plants that died in transit need to be processed promptly.

RETURNS, REFUNDS & EXCHANGES

  • If a plant dies within 60 days, please contact our Customer Service Department info@logees.com or by phone (860) 774-8038 (Monday-Friday; 9-5 PM EST). Please provide us with a description of the problem and in some cases, we may ask for a photo.
  • Plants that die within the 60 Day Guarantee period are eligible for a one-time replacement (if the item is in-stock) or a refund or store-credit for the cost of the merchandise. Shipping fees are non-refundable. For plants that die after the 60 Day Guarantee period, we are unable to offer a replacement, refund, or credit. In some cases, we may require the defective plant or merchandise to be returned to us before a return can be processed. In this case, we will reimburse the customer for the return postage.
  • No refunds will be given for returns of partial plants, cuttings, or plants from which cuttings have been taken. No exceptions.

RARE PLANTS

  • Select Rare Plants are not eligible for exchanges or replacements but are covered by our 60 Day Guarantee. To initiate a return, you must send back the entire plant you received. We will reimburse you for the cost of shipping the plant back to us.

VARIEGATED PLANTS

  • Due to the natural variability in the degree of variegation occurring in plants, the appearances of no two leaves or plants are ever alike. Each plant is unique. As variegated plants grow and produce additional leaves, each new leaf may emerge with a different appearance, having varying degrees of variegation. For this reason, we are unable to guarantee a specific amount of variegation in any leaf or plant, and unable to accommodate exchanges based on the appearance of the variegation.
  • Variegated plants sold on our website will be similar in size and appearance to the plants shown in the representative photos. Please note, you will receive a starter plant that is similar in appearance to the representative plant in the photo; however, the plant you receive may have more or less variegation than the photo shows.

DORMANT PLANTS

PLANT CARE

  • General unpacking instructions and plant care are included with every order, and specific plant care for many varieties is available on our website and can be included with your order by request. Please read these care guidelines to have the best success with your plants.
