Heaven Lotus (Gustavia augusta)

This striking flowering tree, native to South America, has large flowers that are intensely fragrant and capture the imagination with their pearl white petals and blushed pink tips. The lotus-type flower has center filaments that are sunshine yellow and give way to pink. Heaven Lotus makes a wonderful small tropical container tree that starts flowering at 5-6’ tall. The bloom season is late winter through spring, and it adds an intoxicating fragrance to the home when the days start to lengthen.
