I ordered this plant just 7 months ago (September 2020) I haven't done much to it , but kept it in my window after the first week or so . It is blooming happily. I'm planning on having it as a hanging plant outside . Then bring it back in for the winter. It does get cold here in Georgia.
I wanted to wait a bit longer before I gave a review on this, but I wanted to give a slight warning to anyone who orders this item from a distant state. I'm based in Georgia. These plants love sun. Shipping them in a dark box is the exact opposite of that. Your Bougie will arrive with quiet a lot of shock. Resist the urge to put it in sun which is too bright. Follow the directions by keeping it out of direct sun for a solid week and a half or so until the plant's condition stabilizes. Your leaves will begin to burn and start dropping if you make this transition too quickly. My first Bougie arrived and most of its leaves fell off as I unboxed it and a few days after. I waited more than a week and it looked dead. So I inquired about receiving another one to the one that I thought was dead, and a few days after getting the tracking number for the second one, the first plant began sprouting new growth. It hasn't sprouted any bracts "flowers" yet so the jury is still out if these plants will thrive.
Logee's Customer Service was nice enough to send me another one, I just did not have a strong enough sense of how traumatic the boxed voyage can be for sun-loving plants like Bougainvillea. Ive ordered foliage like pothos before that arrived in better condition.
Even though my Bougies have not bloomed yet, I can't help but appreciate Logee's really timely and patient Customer Service. I will order from Logee's again.
The "Vera Purple" variety is a more manageable sized bougainvillea for keeping in a confined spot in garden or even inside. I like the fact that it is an upright and can be placed almost anywhere to fit in with your living space. The color of blooms on mine is more muted than the photos here would show, but for some that may be a plus anyhow. It has enough purple to tone down the brightness of red color.
It arrived well wrapped and looking great, it immediately put on a month long show of blooms and then took a 10 day break before starting to show flower buds again. So its not ever-blooming but just about so.
I bought this plant 1 year ago on a 2.5 inch pot. Oh it turned out so pretty. The blooms are plenty and so beautiful. I will look into buying another color. Thank you. I wish there is a way I could post a picture.
