Sudie I have tortured this lovely plant terribly, yet it insists on staying alive. Even totally wilted from no water for several weeks, she forgives me every time and comes back to life.
Loves the heat. Living in NE Ohio, I bring her in for winter, placing her in a sunny windowsill, where she stays happy & healthy but doesn't bloom very much. Once out in the warm spring sunshine, she starts a consistent, summer-long bloom cycle.
The only drawback is her leaves are very tasty to bugs, so I no longer put her in the ground (becomes a chewed, tattered mess) but rather keep her potted & on a very sunny deck. Still gets some leaf bites by late summer, but no real damage.
