Jewel Orchid 'Red Stripe' (Stenosarcos vanguard)
Blooming around Valentine’s Day, Jewel Orchid ‘Red Stripe’ has a tall flower spike with 7-12 watermelon-red blossoms that last for about a month. The foliage is green with silver stripes and it has a vigorous, fleshy root system. This jewel orchid grows about 8” tall with the flower spike rising another foot and a half. As the plant matures, it becomes a large mound of foliage with multiple flower spikes. Grow in medium-to-low light and fertilize twice a month since it’s a heavy feeder. Sphagnum moss makes an ideal potting medium since ‘Red Stripe’ needs to be continually moist and the moss retains water well. We ship blooming size plants that flower in spring.
