Often grown as a houseplant, Purple Passion Vine has green leaves with rich purple fuzz on the leaves giving it a velvety appearance. The trailing stems make it ideal for a hanging basket or a pot where the stems are allowed to trail over the edge. Regular pinching at the terminal ends of the stems keeps the plant compact and nicely shaped. Small orange flowers appear in summer and are best removed once the buds form since the flowers have an unpleasant odor. Bright light helps to maintain the attractive purple color.

Easy Grower

It's sick!

I received this Purple Passion Vine last September. It seemed to do well all winter until about a month ago (April) when I noticed white spots on it. I took it outside on a warm day and tried washing the spots off. The main branch is looking very sickly. But a couple of broken pieces that I just stuck in the pot seem to have rooted, and I will now move them before they also get sick. Fortunately, I can put them outside now and keep watch and keep spraying them down. I hope this works. If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate them before the plant dies.
