Begonia crassicaulis (Begonia crassicaulis)
This beautiful species from Guatemala is easy to grow as a container plant since it tolerates the dryness that’s often found in the home environment. The large, shiny, green leaves have a mounding habit and hide the thick stems that rise upward from the soil surface. It has a resting period in winter when it loses its leaves, revealing the thick stems. As winter turns to spring, it flushes back into growth adorning itself with sprays of white flowers and new foliage.
