The gardenia arrived so healthy and NO BUGS!!! It did not take long for the plant to grow its first bud immediately after reporting. This plant is really vigorous. Love it!
I've grown this gardenia for a few years now indoors and would definitely recommend it over any you could find in a grocery or big box store. It really doesn't have a blooming season and essentially produces buds every time it produces new growth, so it really will flower whenever as long as it receives good light. Gardenias like acidic well draining soil so I put mine in a 2:1 peat perlite mix and fertilize with holly tone which is really the key to it thriving. I had it in regular potting mix for a while and it stagnated. The foliage is also very attractive when the plant is not in flower, it's a deep glossy green. The crystalline white flowers are extremely fragrant and still so after they have yellowed and fallen from the plant. It seems to tolerate cooler temperatures in my house in the winter along with no supplemental lighting in a west window. I've found no negatives with this plant in all my years of growing plants.
This plant is easy to take care of as long as you give it plenty of light and don't overwater it. Mine is doing beautifully with a nice size bud on it. The blooms are beautiful and fragrant.
