4" Pot Size Grafted Plant

Kumquats are a favorite citrus fruit among people of all ages. Their thin outer skin is sweet and their inner pulp is surprisingly tart. Kumquats are meant to be eaten skin-and-all, so in combination, the taste is a distinctive flavor. The fruit of the ‘Nagami’ kumquat is oval and about 1 1/4” long x 1” diameter. Our grafted plants, shipped in 4” pots, will give you a jump on flowering and fruiting. Within one year, they will flower in the summer and set fruit just in time for the holidays. At Logee’s, our kumquat tree has taken its permanent residence in our greenhouses for over 100 years. As with all citrus, keep the roots healthy by drying out between waterings and give full light and moderate amounts of fertilizer for steady growth.

Plant Care

Container Grown Citrus

Keep the root systems healthy and active. A period of dryness helps stimulate flowers and fruiting. Mimic Florida’s climate- wet summers and dry fall/winters.

Most important for potted citrus:

• Full sun and high light. The more the better.• For faster growth and an active root system,    grow them warm.• Do not over pot.• Grow in clay pots for optimum root health.• Fertilize spring through fall. • High light aids in flowering and fruiting.• Fertilize in growing season 1-2 times a month.• Water when the soil is visually dry or at first signs of wilt.

Healthy and Sturdy Plant

The plant arrived in clean and healthy condition with deep green leaves, sturdy trunk (about 3/8' diameter) and about 18' tall above the soil line. I replanted as recommended into a 6' pot a little over a month ago. Now it is growing fresh new leaves. I still have memories of munching on Nagami kumquats from our yard 60 years ago in Florida. I'm looking forward to doing so again here in Hawai'i.
