Do ALL PASSION PLANTS PRODUCE FRUIT and Will this one?
Zone 9b gardener here, bought this baby thinking it would grow much like all of my other 4 passiflora vines in full sun. No!! Poor thing got sun scorched. Be very careful on where you plant this, while it wants good sun exposure and warmth, you will notice scorching if not too careful. I've sinced moved it into a less sunnier spot in my garden and it has been doing better.
I have purchased passifloras from this site before and I like them. This plant is no exception. While the box was mangled and I worried that plants might be broken, they were not. (all the markings for gentle handling were there, but they appeared to be ignored by USPS). This plant arrived in a decent size, over a foot long, with healthy looking stem and leaves. I understand that it is more heat tolerant than others of a similar appearance and cannot wait to plant it outside and watch it grow and bloom. Thank you for sending such a healthy plant.
I grew this in my semi-shaded backyard. It finally blossomed very late in the fall. The blossoms are HUGE and fragrant. Like all Passifloras these need HEAT and SUN. I fertilize with hi phosphorous liquid weekly and use 14-14-14 osmocote as well. The liquid fertilizer really pushes the blossoms.I was disappointed it bloomed so late but I am buying more this year for a different location. I wish I could post pics.
