Attractive arrow-shaped leaves emerge deep orange before changing to red. As the leaves mature, they turn deep green and often appear nearly black. The leaves will be darker if kept out of strong light. The undersides of the leaves are maroon with a bit of shimmer to them. The colorful leaf stems are vivid red. ‘Dark Lord’ is a large growing philodendron that can reach 4-5’ tall. Grow on a trellis or moss pole to keep the aerial roots of the plant healthy. The leaves on mature plants can grow 20-22” long and ‘Dark Lord’ makes an eye-catching specimen in any plant collection. This member of the Aroid family is native to Central and South America.
