Australian Beach Cherry Tree (Eugenia reinwardtiana)

$19.95
SKU: R1255-2

2.5" Pot Size

Delicious to eat and pleasing to look at, the Australian Beach Cherry Tree is a constant producer of bright shiny red cherries and a welcome addition to any gardener’s potted fruit collection. Although a slow grower, once a young plant reaches 12” in height, it will start bearing fruit. Tolerant to dry conditions both in the soil and the air, this member of the myrtle family takes well to pruning and is often used as a hedge in Australia. It can be kept at 2-3’ indefinitely and will still produce an abundance of sweet cherries. Native to the Northeast tropical areas of Australia, it is often found growing on beachfronts, hence its name Australian Beach Cherry Tree.

Good, easy to grow, tasty

This plant is probably easiest to grow from subtropicals I have. Doesn't produce many berries in zone 7a (Maryland), but produce one after another, beginning with summer outdoors and continuing at fall and even winter in indoor greenhouse. Berries are tasty.

Cute plant, easy to grow

Care for these plants is fairly easy. It has a graceful growth habit and entering my second summer I'm looking forward to the possibility of fruit. Beautiful growth habit and fun to grow!

I bought my plant April of 2015. The plant has not gotten much bigger. A little less that 12 inches. This past month I got my first cherry. Oh, did I baby it. It grew slow but one day it was red and ready to eat. I was not expecting it to be sooooo good!!!!!!. I cannot wait to harvest more!!!!!
