Avocado Tree Set 'Day' and 'Oro Negro' (Persea americana)
This set of Avocado Trees includes 1 each of the following varieties. These are grafted plants in 6" pots that will start bearing fruit in 2-3 years:
Avocado Tree 'Oro Negro' (Persea americana hybrid)
Known as ‘Black Gold,’ ‘Oro Negro’ is a vigorous tree that produces 1 to 2 pound fruit that ripens in the winter. The shiny, black fruit has a rich, creamy flavor and a high healthy oil content. It originated as a sport in South Florida and is now highly sought after for its delicious fruit. We are happy to introduce this rare, hard-to-find variety to our customers.
Avocado Tree 'Day' (Persea americana hybrid)
Our ‘Day’ avocado is by far the easiest avocado to fruit in a pot. Plants will fruit at about 3 feet in height and will produce a medium-sized tapered-neck avocado that is easy to peel and has a delicious, buttery sweet taste. The fruit will hold on the plant for six months with ripening occurring from July to September. Another plus for ‘Day’ is its cold tolerance taking temperatures down into the low twenties.
