‘Black Dragon’s outstanding blooms are sure to impress you! The 8” deep burgundy flowers have unusual, eye-catching black centers. The American Hibiscus Society named it the 2005 Hibiscus of the Year. The bush is a slow grower and once it reaches 18” it starts to grow laterally. However, the spectacular blooms more than offset its growth habit. Grow this popular hibiscus plant in full sun with lots of water and fertilizer.

Tips for Success:

• Sun, sun and more sun.•Hibiscusare warm-growing plants and suffer if subjected to cool temperatures over extended periods. As a rule, keep temperatures above 65°F, especially in the winter.• Water on visual soil dryness or plant wilt. Severe wilt can hurt them. Careful watering is critical during the winter or anytime when the light level is low and temperatures are cool.• Under high light and warm temperatures they are heavy feeders and need a balanced fertilizer applied on a regular basis. A fertilizer like Dyna Gro “Grow” 7-9-5 will help induce blooms.• Flowering varies widely between varieties. Full sun, warm temperatures, a balanced fertilizer and careful attention to watering will produce the best results for your hibiscus.

One of a kind

We purchased this in April and enjoyed the first bloom yesterday. It is stunning and true to the color in Logee's magazine. There is another bloom coming along and will invite our neighbors children over to see it. I will order another soon.
