Bead Plant (Senecio rowleyanus)

Bead Plant (Senecio rowleyanus)

$22.95
SKU: S7605-4

Here’s an easy-to-grow succulent with round, fleshy leaves from which its common names, Bead Plant or String of Pearls, are derived. Unique in its form, yet tolerant of extremes in dryness, the draping basket of green beads lights up any room with greenery and plant life. When it blooms, the Bead Plant has small white flowers that smell like cinnamon. This South African native is nearly indestructible when grown in full to partial sun. Bead Plant takes on a fanciful look when grown in a decorative pot as shown in the photo.

Glad these have made a comeback

Senecio rowleyanus had been extremely hard to find for about 20 years; not sure what happened when these plants were so common you could purchase them at your local Wal-Mart plant section in the good old days. I had searched high and low for these succulents only to find them at Logees online. It was a bit pricey, but I was willing to pay for something that had been so hard to find. Locally, now I'm able to find some plants in really teeny tiny pots, so my Bead Plant haul from Logee has been a great find. It's almost been a year later and my bead plants are still doing well. I had my plants chomped on by slugs, so look out for those. They look a little thread-bare but they are still alive. I've killed my plants in the past by over watering, so make sure you let them dry out before watering. I've also fried them in the hot sun, so now I only allow them morning shade here in sunny Hawaii.
